In this webinar, they discussed the scope and jurisdiction of Title IX and its application to sexual harassment, which includes sexual violence, in educational environments. How to recognize students’ rights and due process considerations under Title IX. How to understand the application of Title IX to the broader community.

Adrienne Mathis and Tawny Alonzo presented the webinar Community Care: Responding Holistically to Title IX Sexual Violence for the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. This presentation engaged higher education administrators and campus community partners in collaborative conversations to provide a coordinated response to sexual violence. 

 

SEPTEMBER 2023

Patrick Mathis co-presented with Jessica Kennedy at the University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA) 2023 Annual Conference, which is an event for college and university risk managers from across the nation. This program focused on explaining the scope of Title IX and the grievance process, analyzed key issues presented in Title IX cases filed with the Office for Civil Rights as well as private litigation, and familiarized the audience with key changes proposed in the 2022 Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for Title IX.

Title IX Solutions held a regional Title IX Investigator Training in Keene, TX, led by our own professional investigators and policy experts. During this skills-based training, instructors shared their expertise with campus Title IX investigators to lay the foundations for compliant, thorough, and trauma-informed informed investigations. Leveraging decades of field experience, a comprehensive understanding of sexual harassment cases, and the latest studies surrounding trauma, investigators shared best practices with participants while aiming to provide every attendee with the necessary skills, materials, and protocols to investigate an incident with confidence.

 

APRIL 2023

During this session, Aligning Response: Building Partnerships Between Title IX Administrators and Campus Law Enforcement, Tawny and Tom discussed the differences between the responses of campus law enforcement and post-secondary institutions’ administrative response to sexual violence. The session detailed how to build a relationship between campus police and the Title IX office through training, memoranda of understanding, and communication. The presenters aimed to equip members of campus law enforcement and Title IX administrators with strategies to create a strong, multidisciplinary response to sexual violence on campus.
